Farming as a hobby

Every one dream, at some point of life, to do farming and feel that we don't have land :) Am doing farming (small scale i.e. gardening at Bangalore). So, Thought of providing a platform to experiment on farming at one rural village i.e. my village.

If you are interested on farming - read Smart Farming blog to find best practices & issues in farming and also visit Natural farming (likePrakruthi Vanam, near Madanapalli). If you are interested to do farming, then follow three ways:

• Take few acre's of land on lease (~Rs. 30-50 k /acre) and experience with your planning crops
• Buy land, develop & do farming (Rs. 4 - 7 L/acre)
• Co-farming / Community farming: Join with few farmers & do joint farming !!

Well, If you want to experiment in farming with minimal capital ?? then I would like to propose The Land (near Piler, Chittoor Dist, AP) on 'free of cost' for two years:

• Land sites:
• Bhalijapalli khada land (Near Bhalijapalli village)  ~5 acre's sarounded by canals (65%), other side lands. Currently Mango, Coconut, Bamboo, Eucalyptus plantations is there....in parts of land. Well is there but need maintenance :) [ refer picture below ]
• Cheruvu Kinda Madi (Below tank land): 4+ acres sloppy empty land, normally paddy / tomato crop is grown. Good for Chilly, Tomato, Raagi etc., un-used Bore-well in repair state. (3 - 4 months rain water from Tank available)
• Cheruvu Mundara Madi (Above tank land): ~4 acres of very good soil, surrounded by Tank, Gattu (land slide), lands, with two wells, one bore-well
• Note: Additional land around above, will be arranged  via lease but that costs you.
• Land for lease / Sale: Land size: 3+ acre, fully fenced with 80 coconut trees with Borewell is there, need to repair starter; Drip facility ; Stay facility with kitchen / toilet - Sold it
• Proposal to use above land sites: 
• Visit the site, discuss with villagers & come-up with your dream crop plans
• You are allowed to use the land for two years free of cost but you should develop land by spending Rs. 1.5 - 2.5 L for Bore-well & basic compound / pen-sing  (Depends on site)
• Third year onwards you need to pay market based lease (Rs. ~25 k / acre per season )
• Support is provided with respective to labor, power connection & compost etc.,!!
• What is ideal to farm in these sites ??
• Commercial crops: Tomato, Chilli Papaya, Mesk-Melon, Water Melon or other choice of yours :)
• Commercial farms: Cattle / Goat / Sheep / Chicken / Silk-worm /Quill / Rabbit farms
• Medical farms: Alovera, perfume Grass etc.,
• Additionally, House also will be provided on ad-hoc basis or continuing basis (two-three bedrooms House)
• To Stay, ~Rs. 2000/ as rent per month (Rent only). You can cook Food or options can be worked out.

Notes: Above procedure will be legally documented for your loan/tax benefits via notary

స్వల్ప వ్యయం.. నిత్యం ఆదాయం !!  పూదీనా తోటల సాగుపై రైతుల ఆసక్తి  - మార్కెట్లో ఎప్పుడూ డిమాండే 

CaseStudy: ఆధునిక పద్ధతుల్లో.. సేంద్రియ విధానంలో.. 17 ఎకరాల్లో 100 రకాల పంటలు పండిస్తూన్న రైతు కథ ఇది. 
కరుణాకర్‌రెడ్డి పొలంలో యాపిల్‌ బేర్‌, థాయ్‌జామ, కివీ, సీతాఫలం, సపోట, దానిమ్మ, నేరేడు, మామిడి, లోగన్‌, స్టార్‌ ఫ్రూట్ ఇలా 60 రకాల పండ్ల్ల చెట్లు ఈ పొలంలో ఉన్నాయి. 17 ఎకరాల్లో విస్తరించి ఉన్న పండ్ల చెట్ల మధ్యలో అంతరపంటలుగా ఆకుకూరలు, కాయగూరలు కలిపి 40 రకాల వరకూ వేశారు. సపోట చెట్ల మధ్య అంతర పంటగా కంది సాగుచేస్తునారు. మూడు రకాల మొక్కజొన్నలు, పప్పు దినుసులు, మిర్చి, పుదీన, పుచ్చ, తర్భూజ తదితర పంటలు సాగుచేస్తున్నారు. 17 ఎకరాల్లో సెంటు భూమి కూడా ఖాళీ లేకుండా పచ్చదనం పరిచేశారు. కేఎన్‌ బయోసైన్సెస్‌ సంస్థతో ఒప్పందం కుదుర్చుకుని 50 శాతం రాయితీతో విత్తనాలు, సేంద్రియ ఎరువులు పొందుతున్నారు.
ఖమ్మం పట్టణంలో ‘క్రాప్‌ టు కిచెన్‌’ దుకాణాలు ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ఏ రోజు కోసిన కూరగాయలు ఆ రోజునే విక్రయిస్తారు. కూరగాయల నాణ్యత, ధర తెలుసుకున్న వినియోగదారులు ‘క్రాప్‌ టు కిచెన్‌’ దుకాణాలకు క్యూ కడుతున్నారు. రోజూ 500 మందికిపైగా వినియోగదారులు సేంద్రియ ఉత్పత్తులను సరసమైన ధరలకు కొనుగోలు చేస్తున్నారు.
సేంద్రియ విధానం 
పొలంలోని నీటి కుంటలో చేపలను పెంచుతున్నారు. ఆవుపేడ, గోమూత్రం, బెల్లం వంటి పలు రకాల పదార్థాలతో తయారు చేసిన జీవామృతాన్ని చేపలకు ఆహారంగా అందిస్తున్నారు. జీవామృతంతోపాటు, చేపల విసర్జితాలతో కలిసిన నీటిని పంటలకు మళ్లిస్తున్నారు. తెగుళ్లు, పురుగుల నివారణకు వివిధ రకాల ఆకులను నీటిలో ఊరవేసి దశపత్ర కషాయాన్ని తయారు చేసి ఎరువుగా వినియోగిస్తున్నారు.

How educated youth are boosting agricultural growth with hi-tech farming

According to NGO Pratham, just 1.2% children of farmers aspired to be a farmer.

-        VillageSquare.in. 

-        Indo-Israeli Agriculture Project’s (IIAP) Vegetable Cluster and IIAP Centre of Excellence (CoE), use of hi-tech greenhouses, naturally ventilated poly houses, anti-insect net houses, and walk-in tunnels significantly increase yield.

-        As against a yield of 3.5 tons of cucumber per hectare in open cultivation, the yield under protected cultivation is 45 tons.

-        The yield of capsicum in open cultivation is 12 tons per hectare while under IIAP technology, its 72 tons.”

-        Subsidies

-        ventilated poly green house in one-acre costs about Rs 28 lakh. Under the National Horticulture Mission, farmers get a subsidy of Rs16.88 lakh for poly green and shade net structures in one acre. The drip irrigation system is also heavily subsidized.

-        Farmers get Rs 14.2 lakh per acre for shade net nurseries. Drip irrigation subsidy is Rs 1.13 lakh per hectare, plus Goods and Services Tax (GST), under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scheme.

-        One acre of poly greenhouse cultivation fetches an annual income of Rs 25 lakh per annum, as against Rs 5 lakh in open cultivation.
